deviceWISE offers unparalleled security that enables users to control who can modify the configuration of the deviceWISE node, as well as control who can access the data on the connected devices.

Dynamic Policies

deviceWISE supports a dynamic policy engine, which allows the security state of the node to change at runtime. This enables advanced applications that can restrict access to data in the connected devices based on the context of the running application. For example, when a certain machine is running, all PLC values are read-only to the application, but if the machine is taken offline, then a security policy can be automatically enabled allowing users to write to the connected PLC.

Policy Builder

Configuring security has never been easier. Using an intuitive policy builder, users can easily define a policy to enable access to specific features of deviceWISE or data in connected PLCs. The two following images show two possible ways to manage security. The first image shows managing "by device" where the user can apply read/write rules at the device level. The second image shows managing "by variable" where security can be applied to each individual variable in a device. Of course, both of these methodologies can be combined to allow for advanced applications.
